Spending Saturday Night Seeing “Solo Batik Carnival (SBC) 2011″

I spend my last saturday night (June 25, 2011) seeing Solo Batik Carnival (SBC) 2011SBC is an annual carnival held in Solo City (Surakarta City), Indonesia.
The unique about SBC is all of the participants are using “batik” as the main materials on their costumes.
Different from previous years which is always held at afternoon, this year SBC was held at night.
The participants look cool wearing traditional and unique costumes. Some of the even add glittering ornaments or tiny lights to their cotumes.
Presenting “Legend” as its main theme, the carnival highlighted four of the most renowned Javanese folk-legends: the  Ande-ande Lumut, Ratu Kencana Wungu, Ratu Laut Selatan (The tale of the Queen of the South Seas), and the tale of Roro Jongrang.
Four winners of the Miss Indonesia also participated in this event: Nadine Alexandra Dewi (Miss Indonesia), Inda Adeliani (Miss Intelligence), Alessandra K Usman (Miss Tourism), and Reisa Kartikasari (Miss Environment).
The event was also attended by the Mayor of Solo, Joko Widodo, and vice Mayor Hadi Rudyatmo, who both followed the parade on foot from the start to the finish-line at the Solo City Hall.
That night was an exhausting night. I had to wait more than 2 hours until the convoy arrived. But that night was an interesting night. A lot of interesting things happens and many lessons that can be obtained.
See you again next year.
